  • 1.  Acid free cardboard tubes?

Does anyone know of a supplier for acid free cardboard tubes in diameters greater than 10”?
10” seems to be the largest that is generally available, but we need something larger to accommodate an artwork that shouldn’t be rolled tightly.
    Thanks.

Many folks use Sonotubes but wrap them in Mylar as a barrier layer instead of trying to find acid free tubes that big.

    Good luck

    What Diane said.

As another option - In one past application, I wrapped the tube in aluminum foil and static cling wrap.

When it comes down to it, there are times when we have to adapt to our situation while doing what we can to best care for the materials in our collection.

I've covered the outsides of tubes with soft Tyvek, but haven't sealed in the insides of tubes let alone found an acid-free one. I'm interested in answers to this question as well! Thanks for posing this question David.

I have had excellent service in the past for large diameter archival tubes from the MasterPak company (based in New York):
