    Hi -

I am looking into options for replacing red velvet ropes that are in place for walking routes throughout a 1920s historic house. The current red velvet ropes have worn out from years of wear and tear as well as appear visually obtrusive throughout the house. I'd appreciate suggestions from AAM members who have recently updated ropes/stanchions in similar settings that can be easily opened and closed for people to walk through on self-guided and docent-guided tours. I'm planning on keeping the Lawrence stanchion pole bases since these are sturdy and in good condition, though I'm open to exploring options if you have found solutions that have less of a "movie-theatre cue" looking base for a the historic house room setting. If you have worked with companies for an updated style and are pleased with the quality of product, I'd appreciate your recommendations.

    thank you,
    Marissa Hershon
