Update on Canadian Museum for Human Rights DEAI Issues

    Dear colleagues:

This is further to previous posts here about how the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) is handling staff members' experiences of "racism, homophobia and discrimination they experienced in the workplace, as well as sexual harassment allegations."

Commendably the CMHR has now publicly released a report titled "Creating an Equitable Museum: A Framework to Create a Safe, Respectful and Healthy Workplace." It is primarily focussed on the above 'Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion' (DEAI) issues.

However, the CMHR continues to avoid addressing the related human right of freedom of religion for visiting groups in arranging themed tours of the facility that circumvent exhibits dealing with LBGTQ2+ human rights.

See link to the CMHR framework report & an analysis of the latter matters in the author's Critical Museology MIscellanea blog post "CMHR Internal Report on DEAI Issues Released, But Significant Gap Remains" at miscellaneousmuseology.wordpress.com/2020/11/14/cmhr-internal-report-on-deai-issues-released-but-significant-gap-remains/ .

    Respectfully yours
