  • 1.  Museum Response to War Crimes

Today, Curator: The Museum Journal posted a special issue, 65.S1 as open access. In this issue, the editorial team calls on International Council of Museums to expel the ICOM-Russia delegation for failing to uphold their duty of care, for their complicity in the war crimes being committed in Ukraine, and the role their leadership plays as part of the Duma that authorized the Russian invasion. Additional essays include the work being undertaken at the direction of Smithsonian Institution Secretary Lonnie G. Bunch III, ICMEMO chair, Ophelia Leon, and the tragic appeals posted as open letters by the Mystetski Arsenal Team as they were under missile attack in Kyiv. We also thank the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience for sharing their open appeal to end hostilities.

Please consider sharing this information with your local media, museum colleagues, and the associations where you hold memberships. Museum professionals can exercise power to join the campaign to end this genocide.
