As an art museum, what is your practice on selling art work to the public at exhibitions?  On taking a commission on the sale?  Are their guidelines on this from the AAM and/or ethical guidelines?

We annually host several "partner" groups like CT Women Artists, CT Pastel Society, Printmakers' Network of Southern New England, plus we have our own (76-year-old) Annual state-wide Juried exhibition in our TEMPORARY exhibitions gallery (3,600 sq ft).  In addition, we have a gift shop that is intended to support and promote our content and our permanent collections/exhibitions.  In addition to books, and gifts etc., we offer small works of art and fine crafts by local artists.

From the temporary exhibitions and the gift shop, we sell works of art that are not in any way part of our collection by living artists.  We take a 30% commission on these sales.
