  • 1.  Google Translate App

    Posted 01-23-2017 11:39 AM
    Hi All,
We at Pacific Science Center are exploring encouraging our visitors who would prefer to read signage/instructions in languages other than English, to download Google Translate. I'm wondering if others have gone this route and if so, how it is working. Also, if you have tried this, how are you encouraging non-English speakers/readers to download the App (looking for examples of ideally graphics/signage on this aspect)?

    Thanks,
    Keni

On the other side of town, we just started looking at this app as well. Curious to see what people say.

    Hi Keni and Sean,

We have done a lot with inclusion and accessibility and have found that removing the step of needing to go through some type of translation software has been really effective. Instead, in our apps the experience is already in the persons' native language when they enter the app. This removes that second step of needing to get the content translated, and allows you the option of serving a very wide range of visitors. It also keeps your brand front and center throughout the experience of the visitor.

Hope this helps! Feel free to contact me dan@cuseum.com to talk further.
