International Perspectives on Children in Museums: A Sociocultural View of Practice

    Dear Colleagues,

In the final chapter of the text, I hope to bring in additional voices from the field to share perspectives that consider children and museum practices in an international context, from benefits of collaboration and knowledge of other practices to concerns or challenges that arise from the process.  What can we learn from others?  What are possible concerns that arise in any international collaboration?

In an increasingly global society, museum professionals have greater access to and knowledge of museums from around the world.  These connections offer unique opportunities to learn about diverse beliefs and practices from a broad range of cultural institutions.  What issues might arise?  With this in mind, consider and respond to any or all of the following questions.

    1. What can museum professionals learn from international colleagues from different cultures or geographic locales?
    2. What benefits might result from international interactions or collaborations?
    3. What challenges or concerns might arise in our efforts to collaborate with others?
    4.  What do you believe is critical for museum professionals to understand / acknowledge about their work in a global society?

Thank you for sharing your perspectives.  Either post in Open Forum and send to sharonshaffer.consulting@gmail.com.
