I'm trying to get a sense of staff-led tours and how/when they fit into the revenue side of a visitor experience. Does your institution or institution that you know of charge for tours? Specifically, paid tours as a small additional gate admission fee. Has this been a success? How do you develop your pricing for members and non-members? Has this been attempted and not worked...and why? Did you revamp your tour content/approach to provide something different than tour you may have offered previously at no added cost?
As more and more tourism has value-added components, where does the future of cultural attractions fit within this an
à la carte strategy. Institutions already do this extensively for special exhibits and films, but we don't see as much of this for tours.
