Skipping or ignoring process denies the opportunity for discovery. Too strong a focus on end-product blinds us to the possibilities of a fresh approach, an unusual angle, a new connection, a surprising metaphor, a startling turn of phrase that can lead to a far more effective end-product.
Well-said (and well written).

Product is not process, and the
process???of writing, of story-finding, of story development???is crucial to the development of stories that delight, surprise, inform, and change us.
