    The Africa exhibition opened in 1993 as part of the Field Museum's centennial celebration. Get a rare look at the making of the exhibit with current and former Field Museum staff in an upcoming FREE one hour webinar on February 19 to hear them reflect on their work, concept and design challenges and innovations that established new models for exhibition development in museums. Moderated by Dr. Alaka Wali curator of North American Anthropology at the Field Museum. Museum Leaders Dr. Deborah L. Mack – Associate Director for Strategic Partnerships at the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of African American History and Culture, Pamela Gaible – Exhibitions Mount Shop Supervisor at the Field Museum, Bennie R. Welch – Welch Design Concepts and Calvin E. Gray – Studio Artist and Educator

    Paired with the live conversation is a vintage WTTW documentary titled Africa: A View from the Field. This film gives a behind-the-scenes look at the exhibition's planning, development and production. Once you register for the event, you'll receive a link to the documentary and a link to the webinar. If possible please watch it before attending the virtual event on Friday, February 19 - 12:00 pm CST. Otherwise documentary available for screening until February 28. 2021.
