Will this be recorded? This seems like a great opportunity. Unfortunately, it is scheduled on Yom Kippor.

Subject: Web Chat THURSDAY, SEPT. 16 - Where does your volunteer program live?
Not certain where your volunteer program should reside? Hear from a volunteer manager who has reported to several different departments - and gained something from each rotation.
Traditionally, museum volunteer programs reside within the Visitor Services or Education departments. These placements make sense when the volunteers serve in limited, traditional roles.
The downside? These areas may not have the scope to expand the volunteer role and leverage its potential to deepen community engagement. It's possible that another department is a better fit.
Join us Thursday, September 16, 2:00 pm (EDT) for
a chat with Lisa Leyh, Head of Volunteer Services and Engagement for Hillwood Estate, Museum, and Gardens. Lisa will share what she has learned from her multi-year rotations within different areas of the organization.
Among other things, we'll cover:
-
Why there is no one "right" placement for a volunteer program.
-
The benefits gained from a volunteer program residing in various different departments.
-
What factors enter into the decision to place a volunteer program in one particular department.
This web chat
includes plenty of time for Q&A. Museum administrators, department directors, and volunteer managers, this conversation will help you frame the conversation regarding volunteer engagement and organizational structure.
