    Just a quick clarification on the Denver Art's Museum's policy on art appraisals:

    The Denver Art Museum does not recommend specific appraisers to potential donors nor do we require that donors present us with a copy of the appraisal. As another respondent to this forum has advised we follow the IRS guidelines which say that if the value of the donation exceeds $5,000 and the donor chooses to take a tax write off then it is their responsibility to obtain a formal appraisal-but they are not required to submit that appraisal to our museum. Sorry for any confusion.
