The AAMC Foundation International Engagement Program

The AAMC Foundation International Engagement Program fosters exchange and partnership between non-US based curators (International Awardees) and US-based curators (US Liaisons). It aims to expand and strengthen the international curatorial community and give primacy to the curatorial voice in the international dialogue between museum professionals.

International Awardees receive a travel stipend to cover a trip to visit their US Liaison and to attend the Art Curators Conference. Gathering together 400+ curators from around the country, the Conference provides participants with a unique opportunity to network across borders, fields and institution type, while attending panels and sessions on leading issues facing the profession. US Liaisons receive a stipend for their commitment to the program.

Pairings collaborate to present a webinar to the full AAMC audience on a topic relevant to their Program goals. Fellows continued program engagement extends through annual invitations to the annual AAMC Foundation Program Alumni Reception to reunite with colleagues and meet the next cycle of awardees and liaisons.

This year we are proud to offer two opportunities to participate in this program, specifically designed for American Art curators and UK-based curators:

INTERNATIONAL ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM FOR UK-BASED CURATORS
This opportunity, made possible through generous funding from Art Fund, enables UK curators to travel, network and develop relationships with their international peers. To be eligible to apply, International Awardees must live and work in the United Kingdom and US Liaisons must live and work in the United States. Curators without existing strong ties to the overall larger international curatorial network are the ideal candidate(s) for this program. Applications from curators without access travel funding or professional development support are particularly encouraged. Multiple curators from one museum are eligible. A total of FIVE pairings will be awarded these fellowships in 2020.

The deadline for submitting an application for a 2020 International Engagement Program application in this category is 12PM ET on Tuesday, February 11, 2020.
