    Hi all,
I'm wondering if any of you give staff discounts on programs, specifically summer camp programs. If you do, I'd love to hear how it is going and how much of a discount you offer staff.

    Thanks,
    Keni

    Hi Keni!

We provide an approximately 25% discount off of the member price for our summer camps as a staff/volunteer discount.  I say "approximately" because we round down to the closest multiple of 5.  So if the member price for a specific summer camp is $230, the price a staff member or museum volunteer would pay would be $170 (rather than $172.50).

    Hope that helps!

Our programs live within two departments (Education and Events) and discounts depend on which type of event.  For instance, all programs that live with the Education Department are half-off member pricing for staff (this is mostly children's classes and camps).  However, if it is a program that falls under the Events Program, staff will receive the same price as members (this is mostly one-time workshops that have food and drink involved).

Our staff get a small discount on programs like summer camp, it's the same price that members pay.

    Hi Keni,

We provide a $50 discount off the Member price for week-long summer camps to our staff & volunteers. They also receive free before/after care and can add-on the multi-camp discount of $15 off each camp when registering for three or more camps. I think the $50 discount and the free before/after care has incentivized staff to send their kiddos to our camps, which was the goal of the discounts. It's been wonderful so far!

Let me know if you have any other questions!

    Best,
    Kelsey

    Hi Keni,
All of our benefited staff are Museum members, and so they get the member price. Staff without benefits and volunteers get 10% off full price. Museum Programs, who runs the camps, provides a deeper discount to their folks who work for Summer Camp and have a camper.

For other programs, staff with memberships get the member rate. Sometimes Museum Programs will open up a program to any staff who would like to attend, at no charge.

Happy to talk by phone if needed.
    Best,
    Stephanie

We've been tackling this over the last few years. In 2019, we just gave all of our staff members a household membership. We have a lot of free and discounted member events that they can now take advantage of in a less awkward way. When staff work at an event, they are welcome to enjoy the event in their downtime. It's also about how much we are spending on an event. When we're cutting close to budget, the expectation is that staff will now pay the member rate. If it's an event that is pretty inexpensive for us to put on, I don't mind when <g class="gr_ gr_810 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar only-ins replaceWithoutSep" id="810" data-gr-id="810">staff</g> doesn't pay.
