We have an opportunity to udate/switch our accounting software and POS system. Motorcyclepedia is a small museum with a gift shop and limited online sales. Currently we use QuickBooks Enterprise and QuickBooks POS. I was wondering if anyone has used QB and switched to another software system and what the results were or if your museum was using a different system that you were very satisfied with. Thanks.

    HI Chris,

This topic has been brought up in the past and I believe those discussions are archieved on the forum. In 2014-2015 we went through a large scale research project to find a new museum specific POS and scheduling software. After a very long and tedious process we ended up selecting Versai, by Explorer Systems. It has everything we needed, even more and very budget friendly. The company has really great customer service and usually responds same day to technical issues. They have an annual user group conference that allows you to keep up to date on their new features, which they are constantly adding things from their customers feedback. Here is their website for more information, Versai Software - The features you need. A price you can afford.  I'd be happy to tell you more about our expereince using the software and implenting it onsite if you like. Don't hesitate to reach out.

We also use Versai for POS, scheduling, membership, and development, and it's a great fit for us. It does not include an accounting module. You could continue to use QuickBooks alongside it; Premier would probably work fine for you rather than Enterprise. We use Abila MIP, which is a good option if you need a little more nonprofit accounting firepower than QuickBooks offers.
