  • 1.  Museum Closure Early COVID 19

    Posted 06-02-2020 04:30 PM
    Hey everyone,
I am noticing some museums are closing earlier to the public so staff can start cleaning the site/museum. Has anyone started to see this trend lately? I was wondering how many museums are doing this?
    Thank you all!

Some museums are implementing block tours to assist with cleaning thought the day.

We are opening 1 hour late and closing two hours early so that we can minimize public interaction and clean if need be. As a staff, we decided that we would implement our cleaning routine for every 10 visitors that enter the building. The gallery attendant is responsible for cleaning, but if he/she is monitoring guests, there are 2 staff members on-call each day to assist with the routine. We thought it would be easier to have a routine based upon number of visitors, since we don't receive much foot traffic. This way, we aren't wasting cleaning supplies when no one has been in the museum for several hours.
