  • 1.  Passing along credit card fees

    Posted 02-08-2017 09:56 AM
Has anyone had experience with charging different admission prices for cash or credit to offset credit card fees?  This has long been practice at some small businesses, but I've not seen it in museums. As I understand it, a cash price would need to be seen as a discount, rather than adding an additional fee for credit card users.  A no-fee ATM would be available to guests.

We have started adding a discount for events if the person gives us a check or cash instead of a credit card. Most people do not blink as it is very standard practice for many non-profits. For our annual appeal next year, I may add an "ask" for the percent that PayPal charges. I know many groups I give to have started doing this and I think it is a nice idea as it usually only amounts to a couple of dollars but means a lot for the group.
