We have a lot vintage wallpaper samples that we have kept around for reference/research purposes. However, we have found that we rarely use them. We would like to find a new home for them. Does anyone know of someone or some institution that might be able to use a lot of vintage wallpaper samples? Any help would be much appreciated! You can contact me at knewhall@mt.gov. Thanks!

Depending upon how early/important they are, and condition, try Historic New England.  We transferred a collection of 18th c. wood-block wallpapers to them.

You might also try Adelphi Paper Hangings - they create historic wall papers using historic methods:

We have worked with them before and they're amazing!

What is the date? We are always looking to research wallpapers from the 1870s, because that is the date of our historic house (1876-77). I realize that is very specific.

    Thanks.

Have you considered digitizing them first, they would make a good asset to those building virtual exhibits?

There is a design Library in Wappingers Falls, NY (on the Hudson River). It's a business--probably not non-profit--for designers to access source materials. It's kind of an amazing place. They might want them, but maybe just as a donation.

We borrowed wallpaper and textile swatches from them for an exhibition.
