  • 1.  Use of sternos for indoor events

    Posted 11-16-2017 11:02 AM

    Hello,

In reviewing our "no open flames" policy for events,  does anyone have a policy prohibiting sternos being used for indoor/outdoor events?

    Thank you,

    Laura

    Hi,

We do not allow Sternos at any of our sites.

Risk management for people and works of art should be our primary concern.  Sterno?  Why would you risk it? No and never. Best, Geri Thomas

    Hi Laura,

The museum I currently work at, and my previous museum employer both allowed sterno to be used by catering staff. However, in both places, we worked with an exclusive caterer that was well versed in the museums policies and procedures.
