We're renovating our main museum gallery at the National Conservation Training Center. We'd like to include a selfie station where visitors can enjoy a photo op with their favorite conservation hero (Rachel Carson, Teddy Roosevelt, Aldo Leopold, etc.) and/or location (Arctic Refuge, National Bison Range, etc.). The initial firm that we consulted with quoted an astronomical sum, which we naturally cannot afford. Does anyone have experience with a similar project and firm that they can recommend? Thank you.

These are often best done made of wood and painted by a local artist or resident artist.

    Thanks Marti.

We're looking at a technological solution so that visitors may choose to appear next to their favorite conservation hero at the national wildlife refuge of their choice.

    Hi Steven
I'd love the opportunity to discuss the project.  We specialize in cost effective solutions and can probably offer you some good options within your budget.

Tech will always cost you and it will always break. Always. May I suggest a low tech solution, maybe a revolving door like thing. Perhaps 3 V-shaped "nooks. Each has one hero and one scene, visitors can choose to stand in front of either and/or rotate the door to get to anther hero/backround scene. If you don't want it to rotate (something else that can break), then people can walk around said selfie station. Build in wood and have a graphics/sign company print on sticker material and install the herbs and backgrounds that way. If I were to do this in-house I'd estimate $500 (we have our own large scale printer). Maybe $1,500-$2,000 to have someone do the whole thing for you?  It might take up a 6'x6' to 10'x10' amount of floor space. Good luck to ya.

    Hi,

The Kidspace Museum in Pasadena has a selfie station.  It's a photo machine with a backdrop. It might be worth asking them about it.
    Good luck, Veronica

I know that the Jewish Museum in Manhattan on the upper East Side last year had a life-size photo
of Houdini on a wall. Visitors could your museum had slides made of famous conservationists and
projected them on a wall, whether it be possible to make a selfie next to a slide projection?
That could cost very little to do. I imagine many older photos are in public domain.

Anyway, i merely thinking out loud.

Using a high def photograph printed on large scale printer and attached to foam core or wood cut out is surprisingly cost effective and perfectly fine for selfies!!!
