What a timely discussion! Our company, Museums.Co was approached by a hospital that is close to an art museum we work with wanting to have reproductions available for patients to have in their rooms during their stay to build a sense of "community" support for their healing. In this case, it is via an "Art Cart" that volunteers can take to rooms, but we are developing an online "library" for patients to peruse to both learn about works from local museums, as well as order a reproduction to have for their stay. All products meet hospital standards for the ability to be sanitized after every use.
It has led to a program we are launching this year called the "Art of Healing" so hospitals/medical centers can order framed art from local museums for public or private spaces so patients can engage with their museum during and after their stay.
Please feel free to contact me for more information, either from the museum or medical center side.
Kind regards,
Kirsten

I appreciate your explanation and sending the link to the web site. In fact, what you are offering would be tremendous, but it is probably not possible for our art museum. Regardless, I am enjoying your web site enormously. Thank you,
Anne

I'm not sure if this is the type of partnership you're considering, but I coordinate the Artful Healing program at the MFA which is a community partnership between the MFA and several Boston hospitals. Through Artful Healing, we send art instructors to local hospitals to teach art classes and make art with patients and hospital staff. We've also brought support groups in to the museum to participate in tours and art-making activities--much like a school group visit, but we tailor the visit to their specific interests and needs.

MFA Artful Healing |
MFA Artful Healing offers art-making activities for children, teens, young adults, and their families in Boston-area hospitals and healthcare centers. The MFA currently provides off-site workshops at Boston Children's Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. These art workshops provide a fun and creative experience for participants undergoing medical treatment. |

We are a fairly small, but very good, museum that has been affiliated with the local hospital for nearly 20 years. We would like to change that affiliation to benefit both the hospital and our museum. Does anyone have experience partnering with a hospital?
