As we adjust to our new normal, many Independent Museum Professionals are finding our work lives have changed dramatically. We may be caring for a loved one who is ill. Balancing an uptick in business or a decline. We are navigating how to stay productive in our home offices with a partner who also is working from home or while homeschooling children. We are recalibrating how to build our businesses in the absence of networking opportunities like AAM's annual conference.
In light of layoffs, some former museum staff are figuring out how to become independents themselves.
Current museum staffers may be grappling with how to stay connected with one another, with museum visitors, and vendors, all while working from home and dealing with the myriad distractions and uncertainties that accompany that.
