Safe seating in a museum
We would like to ask for advice from museums that have reopened about what they have done to provide safe seating in a visitor friendly atmosphere in the galleries. Our museum is preparing for re-opening and considering the measures we need to take for the safety of visitors during the continuing pandemic. One concern is the seating in the galleries, which visitors need for comfort and contemplation of art, but which presents challenges for social distancing and for cleaning. We have benches that are about 64 inches long, so only one unrelated person can sit on a bench. Ideas have included reducing the number of benches to reduce cleaning sessions, replacing benches with chairs, posting signage to restrict number of people on the benches, and other possibilities
Sincerely yours,
Sarah
