Dear colleagues: [Indulgence coveted for cross-posting]

Significant upgrades & new additions to the web site Archaeology Excavation Simulation are now live at https://sites.google.com/site/archexcavsim/

Included are the Paul C. Thistle's narrated PowerPoint presented to the Ontario Archaeology Society's November 2020 Symposium Archaeology and GLAMs session outlining a unique & pedagogically more effective archaeological excavation simulation programme as published in the Journal of Museum Education.

The author developed this elegant simulation programme for senior elementary students to engage in activities handling real archaeological artifacts that they record and analyse in the same ways professional archaeologists do in the field & in the laboratory.

In addition, today's Critical Museology Miscellanea blog post "New Resources for Museum Archaeology Excavation Simulation" comments on the new definition of heritage interpretation published by the [U.S.A.] National Association for Interpretation & evaluates the typical unrealistic-and arguably mis-educational-excavation simulation programmes recommended to teachers & museums by organisations such as the Archaeological Institute of America & others.

    Thanks for thinking about this.

    Respectfully yours
