Rally your community, expand your partnerships and funding base, and reach new audiences: start a science festival!
Nine awards of up to $10,000 each in matching sponsorship funds are currently up for grabs for new science festival initiatives. We're particularly interested in festivals that serve communities with a relatively small resource base, and can commit to holding a first celebration by spring of 2018. We don't have a prescriptive take on what your science festival plans must look like, but do emphasize that for a festival to be truly of the community it must be the result of collaboration to some extent.
Winning applications will receive additional funds for professional development, focused mentorship from experienced festival professionals, and the support of Science Festival Alliance staff and members. This is a perfect opportunity for AAM members looking to take community outreach up a notch (or two).
