Colleagues,
I am curious about others' experiences regarding walk-in visitation as part of your overall visitation/use number. Our numbers are up 15% this year vice this time last year, but that is chiefly due to programs, outreach, and more researchers in the Archives – walk-in traffic (both in total numbers and as a percentage of the overall) is on a slow decline, and has been over the past few years.
This brings me to my questions:
I. Is this a trend others are seeing? If so, why?
II. What strategies have been successful in changing this trend?
III. Anything I'm not asking I should be?
I appreciate any thoughts anyone has on this.
