Visitor Services Representative Career Path

  • 1.  Visitor Services Representative Career Path

I am in the process of re-writing our Museum Services Engagement Representative in order to establish a "career path" from entry level (GS-5) to a GS-6/7. I would like to know for anaylysis purposes what most Museum's begin their Visitor Services Representatives entry level at and what kind of career path is available. We upgraded our Coordinators from a GS9 to a GS 11 and now I am working on the entry level VSR position. Most of our staff come into the position at the GS-5 level and their career path is OPS (GS 6), LEAD (GS 7/8) and Coordinator which is a GS 9/11. I understand most museums hire at the entry level with a 1 year "career promotion" to the GS 6 or 7 level.  Any thoughts?
