  • 1.  Loaned Objects and Visitation Numbers

    Posted 02-09-2016 11:10 AM

    Hello,

I'm interested in if, and how, other museums handle reporting on objects loans to other institutions/exhibits as part of your museum's overall visitation numbers. Our museum has a number of objects on loan - from an entire intact furniture collection on loan to a historic house, to a single quilt on loan to a travelling exhibit. How do you handle reporting these numbers. Do they have a part in your museum's visitation numbers?

    Thanks,

At a previous job I oversaw several small traveling exhibits.  We just had the borrowing institutions report their visitation and used those numbers to help justify the traveling exhibitions program.  We did not count the numbers as part of our visitation.
