Does anyone know of a reasonably safe bonding agent for bonding plexi glass together?

Weld-On #3 is a very good solvent for bonding plexiglass.

Apollo 5100 is no-odor.  Full technical data and safety sheet data available here:

I've always used Weld-On #3. If you're building poleax cubes, use a syringe to get the Weld-On in the corner. Try to angle your materials so that if the liquid runs, it doesn't run into the surface of the poleax, just in the joint. Not an easy task, but I did it for many years. Also, make sure that your edges on the poleax are clean and smooth. I use a metal scraper to smooth the edges.

Flame polishing turns the edges as clear as glass. You just have to be careful to not burn the plexi.
