    Dear fellow members,

My father is the late American sculptor David Hayes. In 1970 he was
commissioned to create a large, two-sided ceramic wall relief for
Elmira College in Central New York state.

The college has removed the artwork to make room for a new dormitory.
It is now in ten forklift-ready 5x5x2 foot crates.

The college is willing to make a gift of the artwork.

The crates would need to be transported from Elmira, New York, likely
on a single flatbed truck. It is also in need of some restoration and
could serve as an excellent collaborative project with the ceramics
    department of your local university.

Please contact me at 607 353-9000 or Prof. Derek Chalfant at Elmira
College at 607 215-3496 with any expression of interest.

    Sincerely,

    David M. Hayes
    Son of the sculptor

Also it would help if you could post a short bio of your father.  That way others might see a connection to their collection.

We also had a large ceramic mural.  Done by a local artisan.

When we changed our front entrance, the mural didn't fit the new face of the museum.  We stored it behind our building for years.   Because of the weight, we needed a crane to move it!  We had some interest but the cost to move it was too great.  This past year a ceramics studio wanted it.  They paid to have it moved and we gave it to them.

    David,

I thought I responded the other day but did not see my post...I would recommend that you get in touch with ceramic related university--like Alfred--or a contact NCEACA, the National Council on the Education of Ceramic Arts. Both would put you in touch with lots of organizations/museums/schools that might love to have this piece
