On the last day of the Atlanta conference, there was a particularly great session led by Adam Nilsen, Miriam Bader and Rebecca Herz entitled Exploring Empathy: Research on a Hot (but Tricky) Concept. There was a lively discussion during and after.
A follow up from the discussions was the creation of a fledgling online forum for discussion and sharing about empathy in museums, its research, resources and strategies/application within exhibition and programs.
The group is just getting going and based on the enthusiasm from the session there seems to be a desire to raise the collective bar.
