    Dear friends,

This message applies to all of us, but is focused on the DC area. I'm working with the DC-area branch of this network of doctors to find PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) materials - gloves, facemarks, etc. Museums have stocks of many of the types of materials doctors will need. Can your institution help?

Our goal is to find large caches of PPE materials within organizations and industries. That includes food service, construction, and cultural organizations like museums. Some museums have already been active. Mount Vernon (an AAM member) has already donated their N95 masks to area healthcare providers. But we need help getting the message out nationwide. And the clock is ticking.

You may have heard something about this on the radio today, and there's is going to be more in the press over the coming days as the network raises awareness. The logistics are being handled by this grassroots organization, which generally calls it self "Get Us PPE." Here's the national website: https://getusppe.org/ Each local branch is coordinating pickups in communities, all being run out of hospitals by doctors who will be on the front lines. People in the DC area can sign up to donate through this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf1hNLmRd9euXj_rqgRVQe8ZFthonyOKEEmDoCpeAkIQ4XMIA/viewform?vc=0&c=0&w=1&fbzx=307786344687051482
Additional ways to give in other cities are available on https://getusppe.org/  -- or will be soon if your city isn't there yet.

Thank you for your attention. Please pass along this message far and wide!

Good on you, Zach! This is a fine instance of museum people acting as individuals to be good neighbors! let's all puitch in, one way or another.

    Good morning Zachary,

Can you please confirm if they your group will accept opened packages?  Unfortunately, our local hospital will not.  We don't have much to offer, but we do have some N95 masks and nitrile gloves...but both are opened.

    Many thanks.

Hi Vivian! Thanks for your question. Our DC folks will take open packages, but I can't speak for the people in your area. Here's a VERY easy resource for finding PPE donation opportunities around the country: https://getusppe.org/give/

You may also find that there is an Alliance For Response group in your area that could help distribute supplies if you have some to donate. You can learn more on the AIC website.
