The Minnesota Zoo Foundation is looking for ideas and inspiration for onsite donation kiosks, especially ones that are interactive. We have a coin vortex wishing well that our guests love. Our other two donation kiosks are due for replacement.

Kiosks or interactives that show guests their collective impact resonate well with our audience (think along the lines of a thermometer or counter that increases every time there's a donation). We're open to digital kiosks, mechanical interactives, or any other format.

What do you have at your site? What have you seen at other places? What works particularly well and has stood the test of time? Please reply to this thread and/or to Nicole.mattson@state.mn.us. Bonus points if you can send photos!

    Many thanks,

    Hi Carol,

    Hey Neighbor!

I'm a Trustee and Development Chair for TMORA (The Museum of Russian Art) in Minneapolis.

I'm also curious to know what others are using. Right now TMORA uses a money box, but I'd like to know if there are tools that work better.

Looking forward to seeing what feedback others have.

P.S. Please say hi to Jamie at the MN Zoo Foundation for me! She used to be my boss at Minnesota Monthly magazine!

    Carol,

The most engaging and effective museum donation box we ever had at a New Zealand art gallery was one created by a local sculptor. It was an assemblage of objects (found and created) encased in a Perspex (acrylic) box and every donation triggered moveable color objects, sounds and a lot of fun.
