  • 1.  Where to post available museum equipment

    Posted 10-16-2018 03:46 PM
Does anyone have any tips on where to post information about museum equipment we are looking to re-home? We have some collections storage racks that are being displaced by an upcoming construction project. They are practically brand new and I'm sure they'd be useful to another museum.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

    John

Mountain Plains Museum Association MPMA has a used equipment area in the website.  Just call them to find out more.

EDG just launched a platform for selling equipment and exhibitry, you might contact Amy. I'm not sure when it's set to launch, though.

For shelving and storage units, try contacting the company that installed them or a local archival/museum storage solutions vendor - they will often know of institutions that are in need of shelving but may not have the resources to purchase a new system.

One place to publicize this kind of information is through your state museum association.   Most have listservs or Facebook pages that you can post notices on.   We regularly do this for the museums in Arizona.
