I'm putting this out to the community in hopes that some of you will be able to help me out or point me in the direction of somebody who could.
I am a Museum Studies masters student writing a research paper on copyright issues surrounding the preservation of born-digital and time-based artwork (including new-media work, net art, film, sound recordings, documentation of performances, etc.). I'm looking for museum professionals who would be willing to engage in an hour or less phone interview. Some of the questions I'm looking to answer include:
· Where are museums at in terms of starting to think about and address these issues?
· What are some commonalities and innovations in how museums are addressing these issues?
· How are museums interpreting fair use laws and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act vis-à-vis the preservation of born-digital and time-based media?
· Have any legal disputes arisen? How was it settled? What was the outcome?
You would remain completely anonymous in my paper. I would be so grateful for your help! Please get in touch with me via e-mail to schedule a time to talk. allium.j@gmail.com
Thank you!
