  • 1.  Best place for Gay Politician's Archives

    Dear Colleagues, my very good friend was the first gay congress person from Brooklyn, NY way back when and has had a substantial career in civil rights and gay rights.  Where would be the best place for his archives?  My first thought was a university with an extensive research component.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  All best, Geri Thomas, President, artstaffing.com

    The New York Public Library has a substantial LGBT collection of manuscripts, books and ephemera on both individuals and organizations.  Contact Jason Baumann (jasonbaumann@nypl.org).

    What a pleasure to see you posting on Museum Junction! I've heard such wonderful things about you and your firm and can't wait to meet you.

    Re a gay politician's archives, I recommend talking to the LaGuardia and Wagner Archives at CUNY. It's director, Richard Lieberman, is a good friend. And the Archives just acquired materials from Tom Duane, one of the leading gay politicians in NYC.
