CALL FOR AAM PANEL PARTICIPANTS
Bringing the museum into school classrooms-- traveling programs
I am looking for co-presenters for a panel discussion regarding how museums bring mobile or traveling programs effectively to school classrooms. Can museums teach children effectively offsite? How can we earn some revenue? Are the kids learning anything.. measurement and evaluation? Can we expect to earn revenue or is it enough for us to break even to satisfy the mission? Are there grants to support these programs? Should we train the teachers as well? What activities do we leave them with? The Kidsbridge Tolerance Museum goes into the classrooms for the purpose of teaching social emotional skills. Looking to create a panel with an art, history and/or science museum (and frankly any other museum that is doing this well). We could also include traveling buses and traveling vans-- if anyone is doing this effectively in their respective communities. Note: not interested in assembly programs. Please reply to Lynne@kidsbridgecenter.org.
Thanks Lynne
