So, our History Center has a copier that doesn’t work (and hasn’t for a while), but that we need to get out of the storage room that it’s currently inhabiting. It has no contract for maintenance, if it ever did. (Not all the records can be located.) I’ve never faced this issue. Any suggestions on how I can make it go away? Thanks.

Your city may have a bulk waste or electronics recycling program that you can unload the copier onto. You may also consider putting it on a free/giveaway site like Craigslist or a Facebook group for your area. It's surprising what people will want even knowing it doesn't work! Unless your organization has a van or truck, you can also make the conditions for getting it for free that the recipient has to pick it up. It may be gone much faster than you would expect!

We just "unloaded" a truck full of mulch this way.

We do electronics waste recycling a few times a year to get rid of old computers, printers, copiers and anything that has electronics in it. We use companies in our area that do the recycling for free and pick it up for free. Trying googling "electronics recycling" in a local search of your area and you should be able to find someone to take it.
