Misty,
I can recommend Richard Josey, founder and principal consultant for
Collective Journeys. He and I worked together at Colonial Williamsburg for many years, he as an interpreter portraying African-Virginian stories and I as the curator responsible for furnishing spaces to reflect the presence of enslaved men, women and children. He went on to the Minnesota Historical Society, where he was manager of programs. The theme of this past year's AASLH annual meeting, "What Kind of Ancestor Will You Be?," was inspired by Richard, and he has spoken with many historical societies and sites since starting his consultancy.
NB: I am posting in my private capacity as an independent curator, not as a representative of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, for which I am now a volunteer.

Subject: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Guest Speaker
Greetings Colleagues,
My name is Misty Johnson and I am the education coordinator at the Zanesville Museum of Art. We are seeking a guest speaker for a zoom docent training focusing on how to discuss communities and cultures in a sensitive manner. Are there any docent coordinators or museum staff members with experience employing DEI strategies while discussing artwork that would like to spend one hour online with our docents?
Thank you so much. We are looking forward expanding our skills as we create meaningful experiences for all audiences.
If you are interested in being our guest speaker, please contact me at misty@zanesvilleart.org.
