We are reinstalling our 17th Century Dutch and Flemish gallery (permanent collection) in the spring and would like to use this opportunity to survey visitors in the gallery now to see how we can improve it and do surveys again after it is reinstalled to measure the effectiveness of the new didactics/installation techniques. Has anyone done this? What types of questions did you ask? How did you conduct surveys (iPad kiosk, in-person interview, paper, etc.)?

Hi Lindsey,

We are currently using Survey Monkey and iPads to great success in two of our galleries. Previously we had volunteers ask folks about their experience in person, and we'd get a couple of people who would agree to fill out the survey. The self-selecting approach is MUCH more effective and we get approximately 10 responses a day.
