  • 1.  Organizational Giving Policy

    Hello,

I would like to find out what other Museums are using for their organizational giving policies for large donations that do not come with donor specified designation? Ours has not been updated since 2007, and is not only out of date, but our needs have shifted since that time. I would be interested in seeing language, percentages of distribution, format, etc.

We do already have a few established, non-restricted endowments so we will absolutely include those, but as many museums, our major and immediate need is annual operating funds. I am interested in hearing how others are structuring larger donations amongst their immediate needs vs. investments.

Lastly, at what level do you consider as 'large' to be considered under your giving policy. Anything above $5K, $10K, $20K?

Thank you for any feedback you're able to provide.

    Sincerely,

Good morning, Katharine. A bit more context would be helpful. What is the source of the unanticipated windfall? A realized bequest? Living donor? Institutional funder?
