We have been having an internal discussion about establishing a plan or protocol for approaching individuals about donating their personal collection or archive to the museum at a future date. Historically, this type of planned giving has been passive, where we are approached by an individual, rather than us seeking them out and initiating the future gift. Are there any museums that have programs with sample documentation (policies, forms or correspondence) that they would be willing to share so we can begin to wrap our brains around how we might create such a planned giving program? I inquired with our Advancement (development) department and unfortunately, they do not have anything that would assist the museum team as they themselves need to do a significant update to their planned giving program
