  • 1.  Natural History film content in museums

    Posted 07-14-2017 06:36 PM
    Hiya everyone,
I am talking to a group of Natural History film makers and am interested in finding out more about how Natural History Museums create/commission film content for their exhibitions/websites and other audience engagement activities.
Do any NHM's make film content themselves?
    Do they use stock libraries?
    What formats do they use?
    What kind of content?
Who decides what audio-visual content goes into Natural History exhibitions?
What is the general length of footage in an exhibition?
Do they ever show full length Natural History films?  Do they have infrastructure for showing full length films?
It would be great to hear from anyone who has insight into this.
    Many thanks,
    Lizzy

    Hello,
I work at a very small natural history museum and we try to incorporate some technologies into our exhibits. One of our focuses this year is on the Pileated Woodpecker. One component of this part of the exhibit is a small flat screen about 6"x8" that play a short 15 second film of a pileated pecking a hole. This clip is paid on a loop and we paid for rights to show it publicly.
