We are reinterpreting two sites-one agrarian, one a military encampment-that use interpreters as the primary mode of presentation. We are exploring the use of portable signage to augment live interpretation as the need arises. Does anyone have experience with 1) strudy, weather resistant hardware and 2) innovative content that creatively expands on the story that is being told on the site?

I have used sandwich boards made out of wood.  You can either paint them with the message, or pin a message on using the same plastic material as on bandit signs.  The plastic can be secured with thumbtacks or small brads.

I have also used banners held in place with rebar and plastic ties.  These are used to promote the event or times of special events (firing demonstrations, flag details, etc.) during the actual event.
